Everyone knows that low fat chocolate milk builds strong bones, but who knew that drinking low fat chocolate milk would bring your favorite roller derby league one step closer to a much needed skate court?
From November 15 to December 15 the Classic City Rollergirls participated in the Refuel with Low Fat Chocolate Milk Campaign. As a result of the great outpouring of votes we received from our community, we were awarded a $500 grant! This money will go into our skate court fund, which will allow CCRG to dramatically up our level of bout play and safety while continuing to bring hard-hitting action to our fans.
Our milk-drinking days are not over though. We’ll be reaching for lowfat chocolate milk to refuel and recover from all those hard practices! Low fat chocolate milk is scientifically proven to contain naturally-occurring high-quality protein and key electrolytes that have to be added to typical sports drinks. It is a great option for rehydrating and repairing and rebuilding those tired muscles!
For more information on the benefits of refueling with low fat chocolate milk and to vote for the December athletes, please visit http://www.refuelwithchocolatemilk.com/.
CCRG is being featured in a number of press outlets this week. You can read about best-selling author Pamela Ribon who will be co-announcing our bout on Saturday in the ABH (http://onlineathens.com/stories/091610/mar_708203105.shtml). Blocker and jammer Mosh-ya Brady will be featured on WNEG-TV 6 at 5 pm tonight (Thursday, September 16). Finally, Mary Kay Mitchell of WUGA will be doing a story about the league tomorrow. The WUGA news feature on the Rollergirls will air at: 6:35 a.m. & 7:35 a.m. Friday, Sept. 17 (during NPR’s Morning Edition news magazine) and at 5:44 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17 (during NPR’s All Things Considered news magazine).
