Whip It Puts Spotlight on Roller Derby

CCRG at Whip It OpeningFriday, October 2, roller girls around the country lined up to see the movie Whip It, and the Classic City Rollergirls were no different. In Whip It, Ellen Page plays Bliss Cavander, a teen from small town Texas who joins a roller derby team in Austin called the Hurl Scouts. Although the movie depicts banked-track derby with several choreographed moves just to make you hoot, it& s sure to pique the interest of those budding roller girls out there and entice them to take to the track and join their local derby team. Prior to catching the movie with derby fans Friday night, CCRG demonstrated their moves at Beechwood Cinemas and provided an informational booth for those new to derby.

A big thanks to Beechwood Cinemas for hosting this event and supporting their local roller derby team!
