"I feel like CCRG is my second family…which is good because I'll need a place to stay if I get kicked out of my first family for too much derbying. I was pretty sports-challenged as a kid so I didn't think I'd ever be able to do well at anything athletic. Being a part of roller derby changed my outlook and motivates me to keep working hard."

CCRG and ARG Victorious against Hard Knox

Psycho jams against Kells InfernoOn October 24th, your very own Classic City Roller Girls teamed up with the Atlanta Rollergirls to take on the Hard Knox Rollergirls B-Team. While HKRG put up a tough fight, they just couldn't put a damper on the girls from Georgia. The Classic City/Atlanta Rollergirls brought home the win with a final score of 82-68.

CCRG Helps Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for HumanitySaturday, November 21st the girls will take off their skates and strap on their tool belts to help build a home in the Athens Area. Habitat for Humanity International is a world service organization providing affordable homes with interest-free mortgages to families in need. Athens Area Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1988 based on their strong belief that everyone in the Athens community deserves the opportunity to own their own home. Habitat is always looking for volunteers and there are many ways to help. You can work at a build site, help at the ReStore, join a committee, donate lunch to a build site, volunteer in the office or find another way to help. Visit www.athenshabitat.com for more information about volunteer opportunities in our community.

CCRG falls to Cape Fear in the Season Closer

Chimera speeds past the pack against Cape FearThe Classic City Rollergirls battled it out against the Cape Fear Rollergirls from Wilmington, NC in their final home bout of the season. The girls battled hard with help from a few of the Atlanta Rollergirls but in the end the CCRG girls were defeated 46 – 88. The crowd was large and enthusiastic and the bout was full of hard-hitting derby action. The Cape Fear Rollergirls were definitely worthy opponents and the girls had a great time skating against them and hanging out at the afterparty at Fat Daddy’s. Stay tuned for information about the upcoming 2010 season.
