You’ve been to a roller derby bout and thought, “I can do that.” You’re looking for a fun, new sport that puts you hip to hip with the coolest girls in town. You’ve always wanted to participate in a full contact sport and unleash your pent up aggression. Do you love to skate as much as we do? Sounds like you would be interested in waging war on wheels with Classic City Rollergirls!
Classic City Rollergirls is holding tryouts Monday, June 18 from 5:30 to 9 pm, at Skate Around USA 3030 Cherokee Road, Athens, Georgia. Skaters will be assessed on the following
- speed and endurance (must complete 5 laps in less than one minute and 25 laps in 5 minutes)
- proper stance
- crossovers and stride
- lateral movement
- right and left knee drops
- baseball slides
- double knee falls
- plow stops
- t-stops
- hopping
- two-footed weaving
- running toe or duck walk starts
With a $10 refundable deposit, you can borrow loaner gear (with the exception of mouthguards) from us. Speed skates are available for rental at a cost of $3 per session.
What a rollergirl needs:
- mouth guard
- knee pads
- elbow pads
- wrist guards
- helmet
- skates
- water bottle
- athletic clothing

In the meantime, brush up on your skating skills and meet the rollergirls at open skates. Public skating times are held throughout the week at CCRG’s home rink, Skate-a-Round USA.
